One big problem with this whole discussion, is that I'd be curious to see how people define the income of each class.
I have trouble talking about taxing the upper class at a phenomenal rate when a family making 250k a year is considered the same as Bill Gates. Particularly when we only consider net income, which doesn't factor in costs.
For instance, should someone making 250k a year, that lends substantial support to extended family be the same as someone making a million a year who supports nobody?
