I don't mind if race or gender are made considerations so long as they're applied equally and pretty much end up as the last consideration for admission. To elaborate, I think that a male applicant for a predominantly female program like social work should receive the same benefits as a woman applying for engineering, or if a program consists mostly of minorities, a white applicant would face a downhill battle, not uphill.
There's nothing wrong with a school desiring more diversity, but it shouldn't take precedent before grades or extracurriculars. It really comes down to how you view the subject. To be honest I think for 99.5% of all college students it's an irrelevant issue. They failed and succeeded to be admitted by their own accord.
