I think The Romney votes illustrate that there isnt more than a superficial difference between democrats and republicans- republicans may lean more towards religion, anti-abortion and all that but in the end both parties are for the welfare state: there's no way Romney would have rolled back any entitlement programs even if he got to be president.

Also, about a possible conflict of interest because I manage some properties that accept section 8.

Not really a conflict there, because I can always rent the property to someone who isn't in section 8 for the same amount and it is actually a hassle to deal with the regs. I don't make any more money because of section 8, and it makes my life difficult. Also I am not really a fan of federal programs.

I tolerate section 8 because I actually think it does a good job of leveling an uneven playing field and it helps people who need a hand. I actually probably make slightly less money dealing with these properties.

Poor people generally suck at keeping up their homes whether renting or owning them
