Just to stir the pot a little...

The United States IQ average worldwide is ranked at #24, with an average IQ of 98.

So, for an exercise in IQ vs. Candidate Choice, here is a compiled list, as of a little over a week ago, of the states who have voted, along with their IQ ranking (based upon the rating of McDaniel's Estimated Average IQ score) per state.
Extrapolating the data shows Sanders is winning the Democratic states and the states with a higher average IQ. Hillary is winning the Republican states and the states with the lower average IQs. The states left to vote favor Bernie Sanders.

On the Republican side, Trump is winning both higher IQ states and lower IQ states. My theory is in the case of the higher IQ states, he's appealing to those who are tired of the establishment. In the lower IQ states, he's appealing to those who are mentally ill or in the 19th century.
