It was turned down without comment, so the best anyone can do is speculate. On first glance, this case seems like a bad one since it's brining two issues into play: the ban on corporate spending and the disparate treatment of corporations when compared to unions. Seems like if the court did take case they would have to decide several substantive issues which isn't something they want to do right on the heels of mcCutcheon. After all, it' took 4 years since citizens for mccutcheon to come down. The court isn't in a rush.

I'm sure that's the reason the court will give regardless of the actual reason.

Here's an interesting thing that came up last week. Corporations are people, right? Turns out that GM knew of a fatal flaw in its cars that killed 13 people and did nothing because they didn't want to spend 57 cents per car.

If I did that I'm prettttttty confident I'd see jail time. I'm a person.

GM? I don't even see an indictment coming, and even if so, who do you think would ever go to jail? I'm seeing: "settlement," where they pay a fine with "no admission of wrongdoing." Just like all the Wall St. guys.

Question: if they're people just like me, how come I can't just pay a fine and settle with no admission of wrongdoing?

Indy hit the nail on the head with that post. It's absurd that we allow corporations to limit the liability of their shareholders and owners. Yes yes, that is the raison d'être of a corporation and that's how corporations operate everywhere else in the globe...but years of Indy's rage filled Bolshevik rants have convinced me this pillar of modern capitalism must be abolished.

A robust round of applause to Indy! For showing us the error of our ways and pursuading us away from the disasterous policies touted by economists and academics.

No I was simply honoring our law which says that corporations are people.

So, a person just killed 13 people by covering up a fatal flaw in an automobile because they were too cheap to fix it.

When will this person be going to trial?
