There's a bipartisan trend of increasing executive power against a legislative branch that can't tell the president shit when it comes to war/foreign policy. Politics plays a role as the presidents party is more likely to defend him rather than their own institution but who is really pounding sand on frustration at the end of the day?

The lesson here is how to not give the president these kind of unchecked powers when it's your guy in the office because you're not going to like it when it's not your guy in office.
