The only rational arguments for abortion stems from pragmatism. This whole debate about when personhood starts is damned stupid, a needlessly complex diversion from the simple fact that abortions are generally immoral, and yet preferable to a system in which a woman's reproductive rights are determined by the State, or in which a mother who simply cannot provide for a child is forced to have it anyways.
Your assertion that "birth" is the start of personhood is, quite obviously, a giant crock of shit. There is no scientific basis for that whatsoever, it is just you trying to define a word in a way best suited to support your argument. You are literally taking one of the most complex and controversial philosophical and scientific topics of all time, debated for hundreds of years by people much smarter than either of us, and dumbing it down to an insane level, for literally no reason whatsoever.
Let's say a woman is 9 months pregnant. She is due anytime now. Hell, let's say her water already broke, or she is on her way to the hospital to get a C-Section, or whatever. A past boyfriend or jaded ex-husband decides that he doesn't want her to have the kid, so he attacks her, and punches her repeatedly in the stomach, causing her to miscarry. In order for your definition to make any sort of sense, you'd have to say that he should only be charged with assault, as he did not kill "a person," even though the same common sense you try to dumb this down with dictates that what the man did was murder. So, what's the charge? Assault causing bodily harm, or murder?
