I've been told that if you're going to court to challenge a ticket, you should wait til the latest possible chance and then reschedule your court date. Reasoning for this is that cops set up all their court appearances simultaneously and then just knock them all out in one day. If you reschedule, he's less likely to show up just for you.

I'm not sure why we're so outraged about people having to take a few hours and go to court to fight a ticket without the department compensating them, when you can be charged with a major felony, go through months of legal proceedings (depending on the severity of the accusation, being held in jail during this time), pay a small fortune for legal representation, and then be acquitted, but....do you realize those people don't get a cent of compensation?

Maybe we should eliminate police from having to do traffic enforcement. Every vehicle could just be equipped with computer tracking equipment. All fines would then be automatically deducted from the violators checking account. There wouldn't be any need for discretion. You were doing 56 in a 55. Your vehicle didn't come to a complete stop. Problem solved. No more worries about lying cops.
