US wouldn't ban it. couldn't, really. this will probably get the last of the holdouts to get rid of it FLYING on statehouse grounds though.
but of course there is historical value of the flag itself. the state of virginia repeatedly asked the state of minnesota for their flag back, but the first minnesota gave the last full measure and took that from them when they were in the middle of picket's charge so virginia can eat a bag of dicks
i also don't see why some people constantly want to paint them as "Traitors". there is a reasonable argument (one i ascribe to) the the constitution allowed for secession. the idea is gone now, i dont think anyone would. and yes, many of the reasons for it were bad, but that doesn't make them traitors. there were honorable men in the south and despicable men in the north.
when i've gone to civil war battlefields i have seen magnificent statutes and memorials from all the states. in vicksburg, minnesota's obelisk comes first into view but illinois grand dome which cost millions a hundred years ago looms large over everything. go to gettysburg and here's lee
i don't see a problem with the flag. i don't see a problem with statutes. i do see a problem with ignoring history though. this happened. that some idiot kid shot up a church doesn't mean we should lose our minds
