When you actually look at the data, you find that half have had a bank account in the past year but got out after job loss, dont trust the bank or some other issue. (This is 2013 data mind you and we have been recovering from recession and we bailed out the banks) Then you see a large portion of people make less than 15k and are under 24 which doesn't even warrant having a bank account or banking needs, and then you'll see the more they make the less number of people are unbanked.
Theres a completely different argument between the poor (literally poor) are being targeted/screwed by the banks vs what you guys are proposing. We can have that discussion all day, we all understand the poor get f'd by bank policies. But your solution to have a government bank account is not only laughable but does nothing to solve the problems nor does it have any relevance to the data that's present.
