What a silly silly video.

If a girl walks around harlem alone, she's going to get cat-called. It's a black cultural thing. I'm actually impressed by the civility of most of the guys in the video. "Hey beautiful" or "Have a nice day" is friendly and benign compared to most cat-calling I hear. Usually it's along the lines of "Ayo mama when you finny let me hit dat?" or something along those lines. Let's be honest, whenever you try to talk to a girl during the day, the obvious and unsaid intention behind it is you think she is hot and eventually want to sleep with her. Maybe some women are naive and don't realize this, but anytime you talk to a stranger in public and there isn't a clear alternative motive, that's the reason. Most of these guys are just completely up front about that and make no attempt to be clever. They will yell hey beautiful whereas better guys will make a joke or conjure up some other reason to initiate conversation. I'm impressed no one touched her, I'm Miami that's common and I can see why that would be a real problem.

And actually, cat-calling works. Maybe not in the upper east side on rich white women, but I regularly see and know dudes who pull pretty solid black chicks off the street by doing exactly what some of the more polite guys in the video did. In fact, most black women simply assume you aren't interested if you don't go out of your way to make yourself known like that. It's no secret black guys are usually more aggressive when it comes to picking up women but this girl doesn't realize that's totally acceptable in the black community. And in fact it works on most chicks, as all my black friends usually get way more sex than my white ones in part because they try to chat up 3 times as many women. Of course the more aggressive you are about it the more likely you are to get some negative sexual title, but you also get more sex. It's one of those women parades, similar to how all women want a nice guy and yet they all sleep with assholes.

Andddd, I though this video was kind of racist. I would love for a girl like her to walk around downtown and have 20 rich handsome white guys in a suit telling her to have a nice day and that she looks beautiful. She may still find it annoying but I guarantee she doesn't just blow right by them all without saying a word. The presumption is she isn't sexually attracted to any of these guys so why do they think they have a right to try to chat me up? But that presumption is in large part because they are poor and black. As an earlier poster said, it's only creepy because she doesn't like these guys. If she did, she would be delighted they made an attempt to chat her up.

Finally, 100 guys in 10 hours of walking around in New York city? She probably walked past 10,000 men in that time! It's an extreme minority anyway you look at it. This is why most feminism today is a god damn joke. 1 out of 100 men has the nerve to say Hi Beautiful to a passing woman and now it's headline news and she wants you to donate money?

I agree with you exploited. That's not acceptable behavior. That's why I dont' do it. I have more tact than that.

But 2 things I want to point out


1. "hey baby you're beautiful" is annoying, tactless, but it's not harassment.


2. Even if it WERE harassment, which it isn't, everyone has something they have to deal with like I said earlier. I have things that as a black man I have to deal with that are a struggle, white men have things they have to deal with that are a struggle, if you're an attractive white woman, or an attractive woman in general really, this is you're thing. This is what you have to deal with. that in itself is equality.

Women are so quick to yell "feminism rocks!" but then at the same time "here white man fix my problems for me!"
