Will/Should the Confederate Flag Be Banned?

The civil war is just one in a long list of outlets for overwrought provincialism that exists like a cancer in the less learned regions of the country. It's not particularly unique other than it being a very well rounded issue... they fought a war, they lost a war, and they've managed to finagle a vague grey area out of it philosophically that at least in passing seems to dodge the preservation of slavery as the main reason why they were fighting.

Selling confederate flag souvenirs isn't the same as displaying the flag at a historic exhibit. That said souvenirs are there to bring money in so if they determine it to be bad business to sell confederate flags then they shouldn't sell them.

In the short term it's getting a boost but in the long term may not be worth the trouble. As far as depictions it would depend on the context. I don't think the flag should fly anywhere but if they had an actual confederate flag carried into battle that's being displayed behind glass or something I think that should stay.

civil war reenactments? or what about marking where the battlelines were? i'm not saying fly it at the statehouse, but it's civil war battlefields. it's the most appropriate place in the world to fly the flag

what this is saying is that unless it's carved into a statue already, they're taking it down.

i think that because of the type of war it was (trenches, with line formation assaulting each other and artillery bombardments) it makes sense
