What about it? Generally speaking, non-violent property crimes don't warrant jail time, not even for adults.

As far as I can tell if anybody ever needs to be locked up it's people like this guy. He's been involved in several incidents involving alcohol already, including one in which a naked 14 yo girl was passed out in his front seat. If he had been locked up previously this wouldn't have ever happened.

He had plenty of warnings, if you reach 16 and you can't tell right from wrong yet jail time is just what your ass needs when you f**k up to this degree. Not for rehab, but to protect the public.

Considering what a piss poor job our corrections system does of rehabilitating incarcerated people there's really not a practical reason for sending people to jail unless they deserve a life sentence. The odds of someone coming out of jail and turning their life in a positive direction are so small that you're really just increasing the odds of future detriment to the individual and society.
