But for which countries would this war be beneficial? As a Brit it doesn't seem beneficial to me. I think the Germans probably feel it's even less beneficial due to their reliance on Russian gas. Then the few countries within the immediate region to the Ukraine have absolutely tiny militaries. For a European coalition to be involved, it would have to involve the UK and France as no other countries have much of a military, certainly not enough to take on the Russians. And for the UK and France, military intervention in the Ukraine is not in the slightest beneficial for either country.

It's not viewed as expansionist Russia though. It's viewed as a Russian reaction to losing its control over the Ukraine.

The Falklands were a completely different kettle of fish. The Falklands are a British overseas territory. It would be like a US response to Cuba invading Puerto Rico.

Not to mention the Falklands contained citizens of mostly British ancestry.

But that's a hypothetical that doesn't seem likely to occur. I don't think that scenario has crossed any leaders minds and it certainly shouldn't be at the forefront of the focus now.

I hope that it doesn't occur. But, after Georgia in 08, and now this, it is seeming at least plausible that Putin is interested in getting a few of his former-USSR countries back in the fold. Not likely, just plausible.
