Still, I think your time in the industry has clouded more than clarified your perspective on health care. As a fairly well-off person who is already a moderate capitalist, I think you have allowed ideology to dictate your opinion more than facts. Because, as far as I know, there has never been a functional for-profit health care system anywhere in the world. Whereas I can point to at least a half-dozen mixed or socialized systems that perform better, have better outcomes for less money, and provide universal coverage.

Innovation, by the way, still happens in these countries. Canada has an impressive list of innovations, for instance.

But why bother? Why implement a for-profit system that will inevitably require substantial government intervention, when there are already mixed models (like France and Germany) that are proven to work, and work well?

So, now I'm interested. Since many of you think that the (insert country here) system of healthcare is better, exactly what about it is better, and how would you implement it here in the US?

I just want to make sure that no one is saying, "Well, it worked for them, so it MUST be able to work for us."

it already does work for us. it's called medicare/medicaid. it's simply a matter of expanding it.
