Of course the invasion was a doomed failure, at least if you are using the democracy metric. What the f**k do you think the Iraqi army would have accomplished if it hadn't been disbanded? It would simply be as corrupt as any other facet of their society, and beyond that, we all know how effective they are against a determined Islamist foe.
