economic class is a matter of power and money, not simply having 300 more units of currency than someone else. so you are slightly more materially successful. does it grant you advantages over your fellow workers? if no, then you aren't a separate class. plus, class in the socialist sense deals with producer-worker-consumer relationships. it is completely ignorant of the subject to keep talking about it strictly in terms of ones salary.
this discussion is sorely lacking that little distinction.
