And yeah, it's exactly as an article I read today. Obama isn't defending Obamacare, he's defending the normal way of governing in our country. To give in would essentially mean everyone can simply hold up the gov't to get what they want (imagine Pelosi in 2006 demanding the Bush tax cuts repealed or shutdown + debt ceiling breach) and thus, there is no more governing. It is just attempts at extortion that ruin the country.

As I said, they're economic terrorists.

Eynon, I partially blame media coverage for this nonsense. Back in the day you could put up a front and then cut deals behind closed doors and actually get stuff done. With the 24-hour news cycle and politics as entertainment instead of politics as governance, that's not feasible anymore. Just a pet theory of mine but I think it holds some validity.

Also the GOP has painted themselves into a corner by portraying Obama as a radical hellbent on intentionally destroying America. Can't be seen compromising with the enemy.

And THAT is the key point: if you don't like the law, FIX IT.

But that would be predicated on the idea that the GOP actually cares about the health care issue in this country. They don't. The only thing they care about is throwing more red meat to their nose-breathing, pant-crapping hysterical "patriots."

Although the GOP ideology for quite some time has been: instead of fix it, f*** it.
