What I'm interested in is exposing this for what it is but more importantly asking questions that nobody is asking.

I'll say it again: what. are. we. doing. in. afghanistan.

Cany anybody answer that at this point, most importantly: Obama? Because the real scandal here isn't that we got one guy out it's that we're going to leave 9,000 still in.

Mostly it's a matter of maintaining some sort of face. It also doesn't hurt to have a presence so close to Pakistan. Finally, having troops there gives you a decent shot of having some influence over the path Afghanistan follows, rather than none at all.

It would be extremely unwise to simply abandon the country at this point. And this is coming from a person that has been asking these questions for a decade.
