speed of light is faster in a vacuum than on the earth, so elon musk's idea for covering the earth with satellites at 750miles up to provide internet for everybody seems great. and you dont need cities to wire shit. speed of light in fiber is about 40% slower. who wants 40% slower internet, other than exploited?

you seem to be misremembering this thread. i was doing this to pile on after i had already won this thread many times over.

i've pointed out that minneapolis will have the fastest internet in the world this year and within 5 years the greater minneapolis area will have it. and its by private business. that the city is one of the thousands and thousands of clients does not mean that is paying for the lines to be laid down all by their lonesome

5G -- private venture wireless -- will support 1gig speeds. getting rid of wires is a great thing. and musk points to competition from above the earth instead of just with terrestrial towers
