Syria is another kettle of fish entirely from Libya. They have some fairly serious weaponry and significant allies in Iran and Hezbollah. Hezbollah is nothing to sneeze at. They stood up to the Israeli Army and prevailed not long ago. And they can create some serious havoc in Israel simply because of the numbers of missiles they can unleash.

And what about Turkey's role in all of this? You made no mention of my questions as to the wisdom of taking this path.

Not to mention the likelihood that the result in this will be an escalation in the ongoing Shia/Sunni conflict. After all that is the nature of the resistance in Syria. Saudi and US backed Sunni rebels. I get the feeling we are trying to use ethnic hatred by spurring this conflict.

That is not a good idea at all and is very likely to create unintended and undesired consequences. Not to mention it's not the type of dealing most Americans want to involve themselves in. The Syrian rebels are not exactly easy to have sympathy for as they are agents of foreign powers that are agitating in Syria.
