FYI - the 18% that the NY Times study cited as how much more often blacks experience force during an encounter than whites, is about the same percentage that women are underpaid versus men (21%).

The only thing I can think of Prof, is that cops have probably been very emotional in the past after a shooting, whether its their fault or not. So, my guess is they did that to allow someone time to relax and think things over before speaking.
