As I said before and I say again, they WITHHELD 34%. That's not what you're paying. This is the statement of mine in response to your "Bro, I paid an effective rate of almost 34% for what I made over the summer..." is what started your circlejerk.
And FTR, everyone else, Saz was indeed talking about income tax out of his summer intern paycheck, not every goddamn tax we all pay to different entities.

Saz you should have adjusted your withholding by messing with allowances. When I SAed I claimed like 20 allowances.
