The book is extremely interesting, especially the last two chapters. He discusses the growth of the state on the pattern of imperial Rome and how that interfered with traditional social patterns that are largely based on mutual aid.

The truth is our society, as advanced as it is, does have some systemic problems. And the reasons for these problems are identifiable.

And capitalism isn't really that innovative. That's mythology. Mainly it engages in stifling innovation.

Right, because all of those communists living in mud huts have been such major innovators. How am I missing the point?

And again...LOL @ treating the vast exchange of scientific theorizing and research as if were some absolute right or wrong that you can stamp on something and claim "SCIENCE SAYS THIS!!!"

There is the barest sliver of anything that "SCIENCE" is monolithically agreed on. Anthropology is probably second only to psychology on being almost entirely up in the air and theoretical.

Those arguments are very short sighted. If all the privately held knowledge were made public we might experience a short term boost in innovation, but in the long run progression will slow because people will stop devoting time and money to obtaining something the government is going to steal from them.
