Russia has moved to negate its losses, it's essentially just lost half of its one of its 2 remaining puppet states in eastern Europe. Putin's not really doing what he wants. He's doing what he has to retain at least some of Russia's power.

Russia doesn't really lose a lot of power from Ukraine turing away. Russia loses prestige. Is a matter of fearing to indicate diminished pull...and Ukraine being Ukraine there is a tremendous historical element to this. This is egg on Putin's face, not a diminishment of Russian power.

When did I once claim that France and Germany are not of similar skin?! Are you not making assumptions here?

You're so far hugely failing as to why any European country (particularly western European nations) should be involved militarily in the Ukraine. It serves no interest economically and war should always be a last resort. Why risk lives over this?

This whole situation makes me wonder if the EU is not truly simply a vassal of the Anglo-Saxon states at this point (US, UK mostly). They seem incapable of independent action (except France, who's really part of the whole US/UK power-bloc no matter how much they don't want to admit it).
