I too support a 2 state solution, but it's a no-go at this point. Neither side wants to stop being an Alpha and try to legitimately come to terms. They attack each other for the stupidest shit. Can you imagine if one day Isrealis and Palestinians were at peace and sang songs together in harmony (I know that's cheesy but whatever), the rest of the ME would shit itself. Fact of the matter is, Israel being a victim helps its status. The Palestinians being a victim helps the surrounding Arab nations blame everything wrong in their countries on Israel.

I think one reason peace worked out during the Cold War was because we had major commonalities with the Russians and Chinese; Ike and Kruchev could talk about dogs while Mao and Kissinger swapped dating advice.

We have virtually nothing in common with the fundies in the Mid-east. women, drink, pets, even honor systems and family arraignments are all very different.
