I was referring to people voting for emotional, non-reality-based motivations but certainly the system has been hijacked by big money like never before, as you have in Brownback a candidate executing a plan that guts the state but pleases his extremist, filthy rich backers who are also trying to influence elections all over the country.

Why are two guys from a state somewhere else having influence on who my governor is?

Not only that, but a potential economic boon for Kansas (and forward progress energy-wise) Brownback also abandoned why? Because it helped Kansans? No, because it threatened the bottom line of those same two guys.

Brownback's a perfect example of a candidate who answers only to his backers, and not to the people he allegedly represents.

I don't disagree with you sentiment Indy but the trend I hear every time around here is you see shit like this and instead of people saying "damn the reasonable people out there need to be sure to vote against this" every thread turns into a drum circle of whining about how unfair the system is. This is an opportunity to vote out the guy who has totally screwed up the state and its looking like the people in Kansas are gonna choose to keep him instead. And rather than this motivating more people to go out and vote against him the sentiment here is that it's more reason to just give up. Is this the popular sentiment everywhere? No wonder things are f**k. It isn't the influence of big money or radical activists. All the reasonable people would apparently prefer to the let the crazies call the shots. Democracy in action!

Only around 40% of the country votes in midterms, and 60% in presidential elections. citizen apathy is what allows the two extremes and outside influences to dictate results. The system isn't broke, because you don't like the results..

That's what I'm trying to find out. I'm less interested in complaining about this than I am in exploring the psychology of why you would re-elect somebody who's driving your state into the ground, and there's no debating it.

I think it would be kinda funny if on election day. no one voted for anyone for anything. That would be a vote of no confidence, that is my opinion on the entire fiasco.
