I think being a sniper is a tragic and hellish role, that has become a necessity for psychological warfare. If someone can fulfill that role without being killed or succumbing physically or mentally to the task, much less excel in it and achieve rarified numbers, they deserve no less respect than any of the harshest roles in active duty.
Since that's what the movie is about, that's where I'll leave it, and all the media criticisms beyond that are moot. Also, Michael Moore has really made a profound ass of himself on this issue.
