A little prematurely lol...
Iran is one of the best states in the region, bar none. They are religious but not overtly so. They are stable. They are economically decent. AND they have elements of democracy that are self-sustainable and independent.
They are literally the best option we have for influencing the greater region, and we've f**k them for decades. Even going so far as to provide the chemical weapons that were used against them...
