Conservatism took a turn for the worst in 1980, when Reagan buddied up too the whole moral majority fringe. Even Goldwater warned him against going down that road.

He is certainly no prize but I'll take confused liberal incompetence over unhinged conservative f**k any day of the week.

The Brits have FPTP rather than PR so it's been the Tories or Labour since the war until the current ConLib coalition. Looks like it will be a coalition of the left with Labour and some combination of Green, Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National Party. This hasn't been seen before in British politics unless you count the Aberdeen Ministry in the 1850s. It will be interesting to see whether the minority party can pass legislation like the Greens in Germany and Ireland managed or if they'll be as useless as the LibDems have been in this government.

The f**k are you talking about. Tory's turned the economy around, best in Europe for a good while there. Labor meanwhile, ran the economy into the ground in a manner even George Bush would have to admire.

I bet Congressmen don't believe in Conservatism. I consider this word as a mask. They use this word to veil their political interests or interests of corporations behind them. Only people believe in Conservatism in the US and discuss it.
