For France and Germany to take on Russia though...would be full scale war for them. It would take everything they had...and even then they'd be relying on a small technological edge...They aren't willing to play those odds.
But I agree that Ukraine is absolutely a European affair. That is something for them to take the lead on. They can call in the heavies if the absolutely need to.

I don't see any reason by anyone, including us, for launching the nukes. That is technology the human race isn't really ready for yet. Well, not till we learn to control our own stupidity.
