sticking points include forcing mexico to pay auto workers 15/hr minimum, and requirements about how much of a car must be produced in CAN-MEX-USA to be duty free. but these are details, ya know?

NAFTA could be better -- i agree with that. it could be better in that it would open up canada's telecommunications market, and their dairy sector. it could be better in environmental protection standards being applied across the board so workers in CAN and USA can compete more with MEX. and so i'm glad they are talking about it. hopefully it will come out better and stronger than ever

Yeah, I agree. They overcame one large issue this week when USTR reps via lighthizer/trump changed what they wanted re 85% of parts sourced in North America on all autos. So if NAFTA comes out better because of this - cool. Still don't like how it was approached though. The leverage that could've been used by the Trump admin never had to go public (Wall, pulling out of NAFTA, etc). It was all pomp and show that may now affect the Mexican election in July which could further strain US/Mexican ties.

i agree was handled terribly. however, almost all of the people in each of these three governments are not protectionists and want to see this work, so, despite the president, we might end up getting something better for every country involved. it's a damn shame about TPP and TIPP though
