So to you, these two situations are equivalent:

(1) 15 people trespassing who have said they will use violence if LEO attempts to enforce trespassing laws and who do not have any firearms.

(2) 15 people trespassing who have said they will use violence if LEO attempts to enforce trespassing laws and who have firearms.

There is no difference at all between these two situations? You sure about that? The guns might not be significant to you, but they are VERY significant to the rebels themselves. They have asked others to join them and to bring firearms. If the firearms don't matter at all, why are they asking people to bring them?

It doesn't matter if anyone else shows up, they aren't going to be allowed into the site.

Look at it this way. If this were in a city, and there were gun barrels poking out of windows, in a place where people live and work, it would definitely be about the guns. But, since they're in the middle of nowhere and no danger to anyone...their guns don't matter for much, do they? The only difference they make is that its more difficult to dislodge them when they can put up a fight. The difference is the situation. Nobody in the line of fire, and the protesters themselves have stated they have no intention of being violent.

Take over a 7-11 somewhere, on the other hand, and the gloves come off.

It was a turn of phrase. I was pointing out that differences in how we view firearms. Its hugely significant to you that these protesters are armed. To me, its really not about the guns at all, as I don't stigmatize them.
