So I'm sitting on my porch yesterday, having a beer, and a cigar and my ex-neighbor sees me and stops to chat.. He moved away about 3 years ago. We were never great friends, but we'd watch each others' house, chatted once in awhile over our backyard fence, etc..
So I get him a beer and a cigar and I ask him how's it's going:
Mr. Bill: How's the family?
Jim: Good, kids are fine.. Wife's doing OK.
Mr. Bill: Only OK?
Jim: Yeah, because of this sh1tty Obamacare they cut her hours, and her HI benefits were cut.
Jim: Now that the company where she works has to cover pre-existing conditions they said their costs are going sky-high, so they are cutting hours, and benefits... Damn Obama.
Mr. Bill: Does she have the same job as she did when you guys lived next store 3 years ago?
Jim: Yep.
Mr. Bill: Her company is here in NY? And based in NY?
Jim: Yep
Mr Bill was enjoying his cigar and beer way too much to point out to Jim that HI companies have had to cover pre-existing conditions in NYS long before Obamacare, and that NYS already regulated the HI market in a similar manner to ACA..So I doubt her employer's HI costs are going to change much in NYS.. And if they do rise the employer will just raise the employee's premiums, something even Jim admitted they've been doing for over 10 years now... So his wife's employer is feeding it's employees a line of bull and is using Obamacare as an excuse to cut benefits to its employees.. I kept my mouth shit, listened abit more, and then nudged the discussion to the Yankees and Mets woes.
It is amazing the amount of bad information out there. I like this guy, good guy, hard worker, good family man. But listening to him go on about Obamacare was straight out of Fox, and Hanity and they rest.. He was wrong about everything he was talking about.
Oh well. This is the world we live in today. I always thought more info is better, I'm not so sure anymore. Much of the info out there now is nothing but lies and half-truths.
