Also, incase you are dim, I'm not trolling with the Kin Jong Un thing. I'm making a point. At what point does deterrence become a violation of our liberty. I bet no one gets a DUI in North Korea because even if you could find a drink and a car, you would be boiled alive for doing it. Aside from being a gross violation of human rights, I also think it's a society failing the individual here. What does it say about us if the best way we can think to discourage a negative action is by using extreme violence? North Korea has no qualms about it, extreme violence is necessary to get that many people to obey the divine word of a chubby kid. But the united states? We have to use extreme violence, we have to ruin the life of a CHILD...to aid society in complying with DUI laws?

It's a desperate shortcut. Dui is bad, should be discouraged at all costs. I can agree there, we all see the dangers. The problem I have is you are being intellectually lazy, and instead of thinking of ways to discourage DUI, you jump to the immediately obvious way, abuse this child. What actually concerns me more is the possibility that you aren't just intellectually lazy, but selfish. You would rather have this kid suffer, and have his life ruined, than spend another dime of your tax money, or minute of your time, finding alternative ways to discourage and reduce DUI's.

It's the sort of thing Jong Un would clap for with glee.

It isn't an example of utilitarianism failing at all. This kid was not provided with the right rehabilitation programs, which are proven to result in massive reductions in youth recidivism. The lack of good programs is due to people like you having and supporting illogical opinions, irrespective of the fact that those opinions, when implemented, actually cause more harm to society.

In other words, YOU are the problem. These deaths could have been prevented if it wasn't for the retard punitive justice crowd, who make it so the only real options given to a judge are to harm society more or give a lax sentence and hope the kid turns his life around.

People like you elect tough on crime judges who have the mental capacity of a four year old. They put pressure on the legal system to sacrifice children to bloodlust. They support policies that result in more victims and more crime, up to seven times as much, then decry programs that result in a 30-70% reduction in youth recidivism.

Stop talking and let people who know what they are talking about handle these issues.
