I'm not sure it is an immigration debate though. Both the Woolwich and the 7/7 terrorists were born here, the problems that caused these people to be the way they are/were must therefore lie somewhere in our own society. Apologies for not having the poll at hand I will look for it at some other point, but sympathies with extremists tend to come from the youth who were born and brought up in Britain as opposed to the older generations that first immigrated here. While the EDL and other moronic groups would probably love for all Muslims to be deported, where are they going to deport them to? Leicester?
Combating extremism for me can be done through further integration or at least more contact and respect for the group of another. Chances are most Muslim extremists will have had little contact with those they wish to attack, while most members of the EDL have probably only had limited contact with Muslims.
