let russia do it. it won't get anywhere. not would it matter if it did.

The U.S. and France--two countries with an awesome history of occupying countries and dealing with insurgencies.

Russia, China, the EU, Great Britain, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Jordan, the Arab League, most South Asian nations including Japan - they all oppose US action.

Notice who is in there. The EU, which is most of Europe, who are our staunchest allies. The Arab League, whose support we'd need for legitimacy. Great Britain, our staunchest ally.

Then, there are the most important opponents to intervening - the American people.

But, Obama's not going to listen to any of them, I fear.

There are two roads the US can take right now. Get a coalition or work with Russia to find a way to back out of the bombing commitment gracefully.
