Right. But that's not what you hear from the Rand Pauls of the world. According to them (and, um, Reagan) the federal gov't is the enemy. Everything would just be hunky-dory if we had different laws in every state you went to, which kinda goes against the idea of, um, I dunno the United States?

For the record, Clinton signed DOMA to keep asshole conservatives from writing a ban on gay marriage as an amendment. Sometimes you have to do a modestly evil thing to avoid a catastrophically evil thing.

And it's nice to see conservatives on this site and elsewhere, only have dry anecdotes left as influence on this country. In terms of social principles, the United States made a profound leap forward today. My wife and I are going out to dinner to celebrate.
