A hybrid representative-direct democracy reminds you of the claims of communists and libertarians? Wow. You know the difference between structural and substantive policy right?
As for evidence, would you accept studies and research talking about better results due to injecting elements of direct democracy, as well as analysis of similar institutions established elsewhere in the world? After all this would be a new system, and for some reason that scares you and means failure, so I need to rely upon established models.
