You can't study politics without studying marketing. The modern politician is a product, and the political campaign is the marketing campaign.
Diamond-shaped shreddies have boosted sales enormously. The same product, the same taste, the same design, with vastly different results based upon a stupid and trivial distinction. It works here, why would it not work for politicians?
Presidential campaigns, done right, will get you any job in the marketing world, and that is because they are the same thing.
