I am very much in favor of this joint announcement from the US and China, since the world needs to start getting serious about environmental issues, and that is not possible without the two biggest polluters leading the way.
Also the fears of job loss are massively overblown. Will there be less jobs in the coal industry ? Yes there will, but there will also be more jobs om the clean energy industries. Coal power is a harmful and outdated technology, that was only ever economically viable because most of the costs were born by the rest of society.

Here's a question for supporters of the coal industry: Can you explain why you think it acceptable for an industry to cause more than 10000 deaths per year, in the US alone, as coal power does currently ?
