executing the mentally ill is not barbaric. executing the mentally ill, if they are able to understand enough of what they did was wrong to any degree, is just. i also think minors should be executed in the same way. but the idea that it is a get out of punishment free card is itself barbaric. i mean, the only information given is that the guy was hospitalized once every other year? while it's a bit more than me, ive gone to the hospital a dozen times in thirty years. he went 3 more times. OH MY GOD

it is morally abhorrent, in my opinion, to not execute murderers. this is different than other people's opinions. philly, for example, thinks that the 100 days in jail playing playstation 4 for every person murdered is a better sentence for anders than death. medius, on the other hand, takes more of a view of there are some people in society that need to be removed, but they should limit it to only those who need it. not to say that i know his exact opinion on the matter but he might be more inclined to execute anders than let him play video games forever. me, i think that any murderer deserves execution. not manslaughter... but murderers. it is the only just punishment, in my mind, for such actions. i do not care whether or not they can be rehabilitated: that doesn't even enter into the equation, for me. it is about justice.

Yes, plenty of people who claim to be "pro-life" are for the death penalty and the argument is this is justice, it's an eye for an eye, etc. That's not what I'm addressing.
