i wasn't saying that an increase from 4 to 10 MB isn't needed or useful, I was saying that an increase to a gig per sec is overkill for the year 2014.

in terms of monopolies, the reason they exist is the govenrment in the first place. the companies wine and dine some f**k mayor and end up getting monopoly control over the area. it's supposedly a "natural monopoly" but it really isn't at all

besides, you do have choices. i have two different internet providers, one cable, one 4g internet. the 4G is around 26 mbps when i check on it, and i can tether devices to it just fine. i also could have chosen DSL but that's just silly.

also the data probably does support those conclusions. outside of video streaming people don't get that much data over the internet; netflix accounts for a third of internet traffic

uh, i don't have a cap on 4g? it costs me $50/mo + taxes for my plan.

exploited was saying that we need 1gbps and his own article says people don't even know what to do with it. it's beyond what is necessary of today. and further those services exist all over the country, nly when you get to 100Mbps are you restricted to very urban environments and north dakota and western minnesota. but lower than 100mbps it's everywhere there's people basically. you're putting up this strawman about some 4mbps bullcrap when the government's own data (i linked it earlier) shows that broadband is where the people are already
