the fact they are the embodiment of all the ills of capitalism condensed in a form made palatable for rubes who want to shower apple with money does not mean they are a monopoloy. i say this not as a fanboi; i do not like anything apple has ever made, aside from the ipod nano with the screen. i thought that was brilliant. everything else is horseshit.
just because they manage to fool people into thinking their products are so superior that they should pay for them with 50%+ profit margins on them doesn't mean that they are a monopoly. they are good ad advertising aimed at mindless people who want to feel a little bit different and they think that buying a mac will show the world how different and cool they are and then they just say a bunch of shit that is hilarious to justify it. but in the end, it's their money they are wasting, and they are free to do so
