Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?
Meaning: ok, on the Dem side so far we've got Hillary--who, like her or not, you could never call an idiot or clueless, pandering to the lowest common denominator. In fact, I'd say the people who aren't paying attention are traditional "liberals," who don't seem to realize she's Not One.
After that the most bandied about name is Elizabeth Warren who is probably the most plain-spoken and spot-on member of Congress, and one who has taken on the TBTF banks repeatedly. Most often pushed by people who feel that Hillary is too much like an Obama-style Republicrat or that Hillary's just plain shady.
The only other name I hear is Bernie Sanders, who also is one of the most consistently on-point people in Congress but who doesn't have the appearance nor the temperament to win anything (think of a modern Ralph Nader).
Point being: none of these people is a crackpot.
Yet here we have, first out of the gate, He with the Numbest of Nuts, Ted Cruz--purveyor of conspiracy theories, bungler of facts, shoveling ignorant tea party zombies an all-you-can-eat red meat buffet, all in that weird, high-pitched whiny voice.
GOP you gotz problems when somebody this clownish even makes it this far. And we haven't even gotten to Perry, Trump and the usual suspects. Sure Jeb Bush isn't Cruz-i-fied, but it's going to be interesting how he handles the immigration issue when the TPM will not tolerate compromise. Or does he do a Romney and pander to them and hope he can do a Bibi and reverse course before the general election--which would mean all the Latino voters that the GOP has been alienating for years would have to buy the 180?
But here we are yet again: the choice being, as it is appearing right now, these lunatics and people running simply on the platform that they're Not Them.
