Iraqi and Syrian oil will soon be the hands of states friendly to Iran.

Saudi crude flooding the market has had a greater impact on current prices, than the shale boom. And if you haven't noticed, it's pretty much at a standstill.

Saudi oil has put the screws to Putin and the Iranians as well. Till production in the US and Canada matches Saudi and the Gulf States, they affect our economy. It's that simple.

we're on course to match the saudis with crude (we're already very close). we already surpass them when natural gas liquids are taken in to account. less than 20% of saudi oil comes to the US.

We don't need the saudis.

Syrian oil is at a little over 180,000 bbl/d, and Iraq at 3.5 million. Even though I'm sure Syria will remain in the Iranian sphere of influence, who knows how long their war will drag out, and how long it will take too replace infrastructure to reach pre-war production levels. Even though pre war production in Syria was still a drop in the bucket. Iraq is looking at 10 million bbl/d by 2020, which is also a generous estimate.
