Still not seeing any real evidence that Syria would be "over," let alone substantially better, if Assad was dead and the US propped up a state ruled by a mish-mash group with no common ideological, religious or ethnic features.
It seems to me that you'd still have hundreds of thousands of dead civilians and refugees, just with more Alawites in the mix. And that's about it.
