I personally think the division of liberalism into separate and often competing spheres has made us hugely less effective. We compete for funding, donations and access to lawmakers, rather than making them come to us by going big tent.

Why? I'm just one Canadian who is far more radical than the rest of us.

Also, big tent means creating an organization that pursues all sorts of different issues, like a political party. A good example is Students for a Democratic Society in the 60s.

Perhaps. I just think that liberalism has always been about moving things forward, creating new rights instead of defending old ones, increasing the scope of individual autonomy not just in the sense of negative liberty, but tangible gains in ability to succeed, etc.

Libertarianism, the American kind anyways, is pretty much the opposite of that.
