According to this Bureau of Justice Statistics only 38% of murderers had a prior felony conviction. About 70% of murders are committed by firearms so that means the number of people with past felony convictions who commit murder by firearms is even less than 38%. By no means a majority.

I'm just saying that the police will be able to analyze the metal and build of printed guns. They will also be able to tell what kind of printer was used (and if it wasn't a commercial version that also gives them great info). With this information they can pin every crime committed with these guns to a specific manufacturer. Which means huge risks... Risks that don't exist when a shit ton of grinded foreign handguns get distributed.

You mean suspected criminals. Because the data does not show the convictions to back that up. Especially if you were to discount convictions for drug possession.
