Theft is an initiation of force ie aggression. Even if you don't expect to retaliate personally you expect the law to do it for you, correct? So in some way the use of force to defend against aggression is justified, is it not?

because they're two separate terms to describe two separate things.
pizzas are not ice creams because you want them to be eric. they are two different things and with two different words to describe them.
going to an absurdly base level of explanation, we do not develop different words to explain the same concepts. yes, there are examples like liberty and freedom, but that's because one is from our french ancestory and one is from our german. violence and aggression both come from latin and both describe two separate concepts.
